NCA schedules cleaning
classes,
certification opportunities for fall
It will be a busy couple of months for the
National
Cleaners Association, which
will be keeping cleaners seeking education and certification
very active during the months of October and November.
In fact, Korean cleaners who need to
obtain certification will have a chance to do so with a two-day
course beginning on November 21 and concluding on November 28.
It meets from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
NCA members must pay $509 each and have
their current dues paid. Non-members pay $975.
There will an additional New York
certification opportunity for Spanish-speaking cleaners on
November 7 and 14. The cost and hours are the same as the
Korean course.
Also coming up will be a four week course
on “The Principles and Practices of Drycleaning,”
starting on October 5.
The class will meet every Tuesday and
Thursday through October 29 at the New York School of
Drycleaning, located at 252 West 29th Street. Class hours will
be between 7 and 10 p.m. and the cost is $380 per person.
NCA will host another class in the month,
as well. A three-day refresher on advanced stain removal will
meet on three consecutive Sundays, beginning on October 17.
Class time at the New York School of
Drycleaning is 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Members pay $460 per
person; non-members must pay $595 each.
NCA has also announced more plans for the
early part of 2005, including a return of the popular
“Brainstorming with the Best” seminar series which
will take place January 13-16.
The setting will be the Atlantis Resort
and Casino in the Bahamas. This year’s program will
include discussions from Jay Conrad Levinson, author of the
Guerrilla Marketing series, and Jackie Huba, co-author of
Creating Customer Evangelists.
On Friday morning, Levinson will
demonstrate how to develop and implement a strategy that will
help you improve your bottom line dramatically.
Huba will speak during the following
morning on how to create a “buzz” about your
business. The cost is $495 per member (plus $225 for spouse);
non-members pay $595 (plus $275 for spouse). Hotel rooms are
available at a rate of $195 and $255 per night. For more
information on any NCA event, contact the association at (212)
967-3002.
Finishing class comes to Massachusetts
A proper finish is the final, and perhaps
the most crucial, stage in the cleaning process. It lets your
customers know that you care about quality.
For cleaners in Massachusetts who wish to
brush up on the subject, the North
East Fabricare Association will
be hosting a professional training course on Saturday, October
23.
The session will take place at The
Cleanist, located at 3011Ž2 Court St. in Plymouth. It will run
from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Training specialists Carmelia and Fred
Bernardi will demonstrate proper finishing techniques with an
emphasis on how to enhance customer relations, plant production
and work quality.
The hands-on course will also include a
study of fibers, fabrics and characteristics of steam.
The cost is $165 per member and $215 per
non-member. To register, contact the NEFA office by calling
(781) 942-7630.
