Crowd
pleasing return to the popular Virgin New Adventures format recreates the
battle suited Ace and the wit of Professor Bernice Summerfield. One of
the few audio adventures that seemed to be too long. The story relies too
heavily on a stream of techno/psycho babble in place of plot development.
The whole thing left me cold and the only reason I tried a second listening
was to try to find some positives for this review. Although the individual
performances are well applied there is very little collective spark, which
is surprising considering the strength of the three main characters. The
first episode is quite entertaining but from the beginning of episode two
things start to flag and get bogged down in interminable bouts of second
guessing and the aforementioned techno/psycho babble.
